Monique began her career in media and marketing at Portland's iconic Hip Hop radio station, Jammin' 95.5, where she built high-impact marketing campaigns and strategic partnerships. She later helped launch 95.5 The Game, the first FM sports radio station on the West Coast, developing partnerships with organizations including the Portland Trail Blazers, Oregon Ducks, and Portland Timbers.
In 2009, Monique joined Self Enhancement, Inc. (SEI), Oregon's largest Black-led nonprofit, where she quickly emerged as a leader across youth development, school partnerships, family engagement, and community programs. Over the years, she served in multiple leadership roles, helping design innovative youth leadership initiatives, strengthen community partnerships, and expand opportunities for youth and families throughout the Portland metro region.
After more than a decade at SEI, Monique broadened her expertise by serving as the Head of Projects and Partnerships for an Emmy Award-winning creative agency, where she led strategic initiatives, cultivated key partnerships, and helped clients elevate their brands, stories, and community impact. During this time, she also developed a successful communications and marketing consulting portfolio, supporting organizations in strengthening stakeholder engagement and amplifying their mission-driven work.
Monique returned to SEI in 2023 and now serves as the Director of Culture + Communications. In this role, she leads agency-wide efforts to strengthen organizational culture, elevate the SEI brand, deepen community engagement, and amplify stories that showcase the brilliance, resilience, and success of the communities SEI serves. Her work is grounded in a commitment to equity, opportunity, and ensuring every young person has access to the resources, relationships, and support needed to thrive.
